Amyl and The Sniffers Release Sophomore Album ‘Comfort To Me’ Today

Amyl & The Sniffers, have released their sophomore album Comfort To Me today! Comfort To Me, which was co-produced by the band and Dan Luscombe, is the follow-up to Amyl & The Sniffers’ critically acclaimed 2019 self-titled debut album. With its lyrics largely written during the Australian Bushfire season, when The Sniffers were already wearing masks to protect themselves from smoke in the air, Comfort To Me came together in a 3-bedroom apartment where the four band members were quarantined together during COVID-19 lockdown. The result is a less spontaneous and more darkly considered record that masterfully captures the essence of the band like never before.

“This album is just us — raw self-expression, defiant energy, unapologetic vulnerability,” says Taylor. “It was written by four self-taught musicians who are all just trying to get by and have a good time.”

Order the sophomore album here.

Amyl and The Sniffers also announce today that on October 5th they’ll premiere a filmed performance of Comfort to Me, played in full, in one take, on a slab of concrete in a suburban wasteland somewhere in Melbourne, Australia. Tickets for the live stream are available now HERE.

Allen Stone Announces New Album & Single

Allen Stone announces his new album APART, where he reimagines some of his most beloved songs to date, stripping each lavishly arranged track back to the very essence of its creation. It is not only an ideal showcase for his powerfully emotive voice, but the result is also a testament to the magic within Stone’s artistry: a profound understanding of music’s potential to imprint upon our lives, and a commitment to creating the kind of songs that endlessly impart wisdom and comfort and undeniable joy.

Featuring 11 songs culled from across Stone’s catalog—and one exquisite Bob Marley cover—APART kicks off with the dreamy rumination of his first break-out hit “Unaware.” One of the most breathtaking moments on APART is “Bed I Made,” as R&B star Alessia Cara joins him for a duet. The album arrives everywhere on Friday, November 12.

New My Morning Jacket Album Announce & Single

My Morning Jacket proudly announce the upcoming release of their Self-Titled ninth studio album. The band’s first new music since 2015’s The Waterfall, My Morning Jacket reaffirms the rarefied magic that’s made My Morning Jacket so beloved, embedding every groove with moments of discovery, revelation, and ecstatic catharsis. Produced and engineered by lead singer Jim James over two multi-week sessions at Los Angeles, CA’s 64 Sound, the album came to life after what looked like a permanent hiatus for the band. But after performing four shows in summer 2019, beginning with two mind-blowing nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, My Morning Jacket was overcome with the urge to carry on.

That sense of purpose can be heard throughout the thrillingly expansive My Morning Jacket. For all its unbridled joy, songs like “Regularly Scheduled Programming” and the otherworldly, album-closing “I Never Could Get Enough” once again reveal My Morning Jacket’s hunger for exploring the most nuanced and layered existential questions in song form while simultaneously harnessing the hypnotic intensity of their legendary live show more fully than ever before.

My Morning Jacket is preceded by today’s premiere of the album’s first single, “Regularly Scheduled Programming,” available everywhere now with an official music video co-directed by Jim James and George Mays.

“This song really hits home for me after what we’ve gone through with the pandemic,” James said of the new song. “But even before then, it felt like so many of us were trading real life for social media, trading our own stories for the storylines on TV, trading our consciousness for drugs. We need to help each other wake up to real love before it’s too late.”

My Morning Jacket arrives everywhere Friday, October 22 on digitally and in various physical formats, including CD, LP and deluxe edition 2xLP colored vinyl (exclusive to ATO & MMJ online stores); pre-orders begin today.  Pre-order now here and check out the band on their massive tour kicking off this week, joined by artists like Brittany Howard, Flock of Dimes, Durand Jones & the Indications, and Bedouine.

Neal Francis Announces Album ‘In Plain Sight’ & Releases First Single “Can’t Stop The Rain”

Chicago singer, songwriter and pianist Neal Francis announces his new album In Plain Sight, due out November 5. After returning home from touring on the back of his 2019 debut album Changes, Francis went through a breakup and found himself living in a church, where he ended up writing a series of new songs about honesty and resilience.

“I’m owning up to all my problems within my relationships and my sobriety,” he says. “So much of it is about coming to the understanding that I continue to suffer because of those problems. It’s about acknowledging that and putting it out in the open in order to mitigate the suffering and try to work on it, instead of trying to hide everything.”

Francis and his bandmates recorded In Plain Sight entirely on tape – and mostly in that same church – and the resulting songs are dreamlike and reflective, anchored in the rock and soul sound that has led critics to compare him to legends like Allen Toussaint and Dr. John. In Plain Sight was mixed by the Grammy-winning producer Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Tame Impala, MGMT).

Pre-order the cherry red vinyl, shipping November 1.

Today Francis releases the video for In Plain Sight’s buoyant first single “Can’t Stop The Rain,” which features the Grammy-winning guitarist Derek Trucks and premiered today on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic.

“Even though life’s going to throw all this shit at you, there’s still so many things to be grateful for,” Francis says of the track.

The video, directed by Alec Basse, features Francis – who began playing the piano at age 4 – playing and then destroying his childhood piano, the same instrument he used for the song’s recording, watch it below.

Pachyman Releases Album ‘The Return of…’ Today!

Today Pachyman, the dub project of LA-based multi-instrumentalist Pachy García, releases his ATO Records debut The Return of Pachyman. Pachyman, who won this year’s Latin Alternative Music Conference Discovery Award, is a one-man-band – García plays and records all of the instruments on the record himself, and his songs take influence from the old-school Caribbean reggae sound he fell in love with growing up in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

“With this project, I was looking to make positive music and radiate good energy; something to kinda disconnect from the negative things that were happening at the moment,” says García. “I am trying to make this project a service for humanity in the sense that I just wanted to shine a positive light.”

Order the vinyl here, shipping now!

Pachyman will play a sold-out hometown record-release show at LA’s Zebulon tonight. He will make his NYC debut opening for four Black Pumas shows at Brooklyn Steel on September 13, 14, 15, and 16 and support Khruangbin on two dates in Colorado and Utah later that month. Upcoming festival appearances include Desert Daze in Perris, California in November and My Morning Jacket’s One Big Holiday in Cancun, Mexico in March of 2022.

Rose also shares two tracks from the album – bonus track “Whatchoo” and the remastered “Shanghai Cigarettes,” a breakup song featuring Rayland Baxter about which American Songwriter wrote, “Rose’s vocals are so sweet and the beat is so contagious, you might be tempted to break up with your beau just to have an excuse to listen to it on repeat.”

Altin Gün Release Double Single “Kisasa Kisas” / “Erkilet Güzeli (ft Los Bitchos)”

Today Altin Gün release two new tracks – the summery new single “Kisasa Kisas” is a rare original composition from the band. “There is a noticeable concern for the way we collectively act in the world at large,” they say. “Vainglory and revenge appear to be examined in ‘Kisasa Kisas,’ where lines translate as, ‘Is it a skill to correct wrong with wrong? / Is it called courage to take suddenly tricky roads?’” “Kisasa Kisas” comes alongside B-side “Erkilet Güzeli”, a reworking of a traditional Turkish song featuring London’s Los Bitchos.

Listen to both tracks here and watch the gorgeous “Kisasa Kisas” video, directed by Grégoire Verbeke below:

Altin Gün also announces Âlem, their second full-length of 2021. Âlem follows the Grammy-nominated band’s globally acclaimed album Yol, released just five months ago, and will be out this Friday, July 23 on Bandcamp only. All revenue from Âlem sales will go directly to the environmental nonprofit Earth Today.

For us as a band it’s important to contribute to a more sustainable way of living,” says Altin Gün. “Travel by van or train, no plastic on or backstage, CO2 compensation in case of flying and a vegetarian rider. However; we felt the urgency to do more. Recording a full-length album and donating all revenues to Earth Today to help them reach their goals is for us a way to contribute to a healthier planet.”

Visit Altin Gün’s Bandcamp page this Friday to purchase the album.
