TWO GALLANTS ANNOUNCE 2013 WEST COAST TOUR DATES

Following their lengthy fall North American tour – which saw the band travel throughout most of the US and eastern Canada – Two Gallants have announced two weeks of headlining shows in the Northwest and California this January and early February. The duo, who are currently on tour in mainland Europe following a 12-date UK run, will launch the tour on January 16th at The Shakedown in Bellingham, WA and wrap up on February 2nd with a hometown show at The Fillmore in San Francisco, CA (with Akron/Family as support). This will be Two Gallants’ first headlining trip through these markets following the release of their fourth (and first in five years) album The Bloom and the Blight, released September 4th.. Tickets will go on sale for all dates, save San Francisco, this Friday, November 16th; San Francisco will be on sale Sunday, November 18th.

Two Gallants are also confirmed to support Deer Tick on a pair of New Year’s Eve shows, on December 30th at Fete in Providence, RI and on the 31st at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA. They’ll head to Australia in February for two co-headlining shows with Deer Tick and a stop at the Perth Festival as well.

The Bloom and the Blight – which has been garnering strong coverage from press including Alternative Press, American Songwriter, Filter Good Music Guide, Ghettoblaster, The New York Daily News, NME, Relix, RollingStone.com, The SanFrancisco Chronicle, Uncut and Under The Radar, among others – is the work of a band that has matured and redefined itself, and the album is imbued with a palpable sense of personal catharsis. The songs, like single “My Love Won’t Wait” – watch Vice Cooler (Feistodon, Peaches)-directed, SPIN-premiered video here – have a dark side and a dynamic sonic heft, yet a sense of salvation and resolve courses throughout: an urgent, emotional poignancy stemming in part from singer Adam Stephens’ recovery from a serious van accident in 2010. Produced by John Congleton (The Walkmen, Explosions In The Sky, St. Vincent) at Berkeley’s legendary Fantasy Studios and in San Francisco’s Tiny Telephone studio, the album also moves away from Two Gallants’ more folk and blues-based past, representing the duo’s ferocious live show and their past steeped in punk and grunge.

Rayland Baxter to Tour with Grace Potter and The Noctournals

Singer-songwriter Rayland Baxter will join Grace Potter and the Nocturnals on tour this fall, including a date at Nashville’s historic Ryman Auditorium on October 13.  The tour will celebrate Rayland’s acclaimed debut full-length album, feathers & fishHooks, which is out now. (available at iTunes, Amazon and indie retailers nationwide). Of the record, Interview Magazine praises, “its 12 tracks…betray the studied, well-worn maturity of a songwriter who has done his fair share of living,” while the Nashville Scene asserts, “Play your kid Mozart—maybe he’ll grow up to be a math genius. Play your kid Steve Earle and Bob Dylan’s steel-guitar melodies—maybe he’ll grow up to be Rayland Baxter.”

The new album was recorded in Nashville and was produced by Rayland along with Skylar Wilson (Justin Townes Earle, Caitlin Rose) and Eric Masse (Madi Diaz, Kyle Ryan). Grammy Award-winning producer Jacquire King (Tom Waits, Modest Mouse, Kings of Leon) mixed the record and served as its executive producer. Additionally, the album features Rayland’s father, Bucky Baxter (Bob Dylan, Steve Earle, Ryan Adams), on guitar/steel guitar as well as background vocals from Madi Diaz, Mikky Ekko and The Bridges. Of the album, Rayland comments, “Making this record was effortless. The songs formed themselves; we started with no goals in mind other than making music that myself and everyone around was moved by. It’s an emotional record that puts into words a lot of what I, or anyone longing for change, could go through.”

“Traveler” Listening Party Contest

Trey Anastasio and ATO Records are looking for enthusiastic fans to organize and host a listening party for Trey Anastasio’s upcoming album Traveler.

What is a listening party?

·      An event held at a venue of your choice (local bar, record store, coffee house, your back yard, etc.) where the new album is played several times over the house stereo system.

·      Eight fans will be picked from different cities (i.e. Portland, Austin, San Diego, Oakland, Denver, etc.) to host their own listening party!

·      The party should be held in a public place so that fans and their friends and anyone else who wanders into the venue gets a chance to hear Traveler in its entirety prior to its official release on October 16th!

·      These grassroots events help spread the word about Trey Anastasio’s new album while also providing a great time for fans, old and new.

·      If you are chosen to hold the listening party in your city, ATO Records will send your “listening party kit” which will include a CD and posters to help you promote your event by October 9th.

·      In addition, you will receive a free copy of Traveler on vinyl which includes a bonus 7” and a Scabbard 7” autographed!!

·      All listening parties must take place between October 11th and the 15th.

·      Please read the rules and guidelines on how to submit your proposal for the opportunity to hold your Traveler listening party.

RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Eight fans will be picked from different cities across the country.  The party can be held either at a venue of your choice (preferably a public place such as your local bar, coffee shop, or record store, but your own living room is acceptable as well).  The duration of the event should be roughly 2-3 hours.

2. You must submit your proposal on why you think you should be the one chosen to host the listening party via email.  The deadline for submissions must be emailed to TreyTravelerContest@gmail.com by October 5th at 5pm ET. Each listening party proposal will include details about your party such as the date you plan to hold the event, the venue where it will take place, what other festivities you have in mind, how you plan to promote the event, and how many attendees you think you will have (20-30 attendees minimum are required).  Winners will be notified by October 7th.

3. Participants must agree to play the record at least as long as the event is taking place. You may integrate some other favorite material, but the focus will be to get yourself, and your friends stoked on the new songs!  If the event is taking place in a public place such as a bar or coffee shop, the owner, bartender or clientele must agree to play Traveler and other Trey Anastasio material for the duration of the event. Most bartenders or clientele should be excited to accommodate you as you will be bringing in business for them, especially if the party is being held at an otherwise generally slow time for them.

4. The Listening Party Kits will be shipped to all winners to arrive by October 9th.  The package will include:

a) Traveler CD

b) 11 X17 full color posters

c) ATO Records will email you fonts and images from album art to create emails, banners, and widgets to help promote your event on your local blog, twitter, or facebook.

5. Traveler must be played on the venue house stereo system and not a little iPod speaker or boombox in the corner of the room. It is important that no other music is played in other parts of the venue.

6. All listening parties need to be documented to prove the event occurred. Digital photos of the listening party are required and video clips if possible.  You must post photos on your social networking sites – Instagram, Facebook and Twitter and send us the links.

7.  Winners are responsible for transportation to and from their requested show and are responsible to supply the digital camera for the photo of them with the album.

Two Gallants Premiere Video for ‘My Love Won’t Wait’

Two Gallants premiered the video for “My Love Won’t Wait” today on SPIN.com. Filmed in Los Angeles this August, the surreal, borderline apocalyptic clip was directed by Vice Cooler (Feistodon, Peaches) and can be seen here: http://www.spin.com/articles/two-gallants-video-premiere-my-love-wont-wait

“My Love Won’t Wait” is the second single from Two Gallants’ newest album, The Bloom and the Blight, released September 4th via ATO Records. The San Francisco Chronicle has called the album “their most cohesive set of music yet” and Filter Good Music Guide explained that “Two Gallants stand out…thanks to their aggressive turns, at times invoking metal-esque proportions with fierce guitar riffs, assertive drums and vocals dripping with raw honesty.” Head on over to Amazon or iTunes to pick up your copy.

In mid-August, Two Gallants stopped by the KEXP studio in Seattle to perform four songs from the album. The session can now be seen at: http://blog.kexp.org/2012/09/06/live-video-two-gallants/

A new Daytrotter session was also posted late last week, featuring performances of “My Love Won’t Wait,” “Winter’s Youth,” “Halcyon Days,” and “Broken Eyes.” You can stream or download the session here:  http://www.daytrotter.com/#!/concert/two-gallants/20056055-110162

Two Gallants’ fall North American headlining tour began on August 31st in Santa Barbara, CA and runs through October 9th in Salt Lake City, UT, followed by a two-month tour of Europe. Check out the full dates below:
