NPR premieres Hurray for the Riff Raff’s new video for “The Body Electric”, New Tour Dates

The powerful new video for Hurray for the Riff Raff‘s “The Body Electric” premiered yesterday at NPR, where Ann Powers called it “the political folk song of the year”.

This video is a meditation on the acceptance of violence and discrimination against people of color, women and the LGBT community,” explained producer Joshua Shoemaker. “We took these frustrations and paired them with classic imagery that would be recognized by most, allowing us to set a tone for the narrative. Replacing the Botticelli’s Venus with a Katey Red, the transgender mother of “sissy bounce,” is something that speaks clearly without having to be salacious or heavy-handed.”

Watch the video, and check below for new tour dates (tickets go on sale today).

Hurray for the Riff Raff was also included on several Best of 2014 lists, among them NPR and Rolling Stone Country. “The Body Electric” took the number-one spot on American Songwriter’s list of best songs.

Watch Mariachi El Bronx Perform on KCRW’s “Morning Becomes Eclectic” from Sonos Studio

Get the new album III from Official Store | iTunes | Amazon | Local Record Store

An interview and performance by Mariachi El Bronx recorded at LA’s Sonos Studio aired this morning on KCRW’s Morning Becomes Eclectic. Watch the live performance of “Wildfires” below, and watch the entire hour-long performance and interview in HD here.

The new album III from Mariachi El Bronx, the alter ego of acclaimed Los Angeles punk outfit The Bronx, is now available for download, on CD, or on day-glo orange vinyl (check out a video of the vinyl pressing process below)! Not content to simply excel within the confines of the mariachi genre, they ditched the rulebook and dusted off old sequencers, synths, and an ARP. The ten striking songs that resulted fuse traditional melodies with modern ambience.

The band will be heading out on tour in Europe in December, supporting ATO labelmates Gogol Bordello. Check out tour dates and pick up tickets here!

Returning fully refreshed and firing on all cylinders, 2014 has been one hell of a year for the Drive-By Truckers rock show.

Although they wrote independently, the band’s co-founders Mike Cooley and Patterson Hood penned songs that dovetailed brilliantly with each other on English Oceans, the band’s 12th record that was released in March. And now, we are thrilled to release English Oceans Deluxe Edition and the band’s new concert film, Black IceVérité, both out today.

Alongside full album, the deluxe English Oceans CD will contain eight live bonus tracks and the Black Ice Vérité DVD, while the single LP version contains the tracks on bright white vinyl and the DVD. Bonus live versions will include “Dead Drunk and Naked” from the band’s seminal Southern Rock Opera, as well as English Oceans’ saucy “Shit Shots Count” and contemplative closer “Grand Canyon”.

But just because we are approaching the year’s end doesn’t mean this band is slowing down — they will be recording a new live album across three performances at The Fillmore on November 20th, 21st and 22nd, with Sturgill Simpson to open.  And throughout December, both Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley will embark on solo tour dates, which you can check out below.
