Watch the video for “Tropicoller Lease”, in which the band fends off life-size troll dolls with only their wits and their instruments to protect them, below!

Sun Club‘s debut LP, titled The Dongo Durango, joyously deconstructs the traditional pop song and rebuilds it with off-kilter time signatures, gleefully unhinged vocals, and sunny hooks that sink deep into your already fevered brain.

The members of Sun Club became a band as childhood friends over ten years ago and with the release of a well-received 7″ and EP have toured endlessly ever since, moving from basement gigs to bars to opening up shows for the likes of Alvvays, FIDLAR, and Fat White Family. Catch them this fall on a 5-week tour with The Districts. See dates below.

The Baltimore band then set about recording The Dongo Durango using an old warehouse space just outside of their hometown as a makeshift studio. They recorded the album live, all the better to capture the raw and raucous energy of their concerts. There they channeled influences of fellow Baltimore greats from Future Islands to Dan Deacon, as well as drawing from their own musical libraries that include DEVOThe Beach Boys, and The White Stripes.

“We made this video at a time when not a lot of us had jobs and we had just spent a month recording the new album almost everyday,” Sun Club said of the video. “It was this weird in-between phase right after we finished recording, before we went on tour or had any idea of how the album would be released. It was also the end of so many years where we booked our own tours and made short releases. We’ve reached a new step where we are all psyched to properly release some of our music.”

Only 4,000 of these special packages will be manufactured.

Trey Anastasio Band will celebrate the release of PAPER WHEELS with a headline tour kicking off on October 16th. Check out tour dates and get tickets at treytickets.shop.ticketstoday.com. Tickets for all shows will be available through a real-time presale beginning Thursday, August 27th at noon eastern and ending Wednesday, September 2nd at 5pm eastern at treytickets.shop.ticketstoday.com.  Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Thursday, September 3rd.

Produced by Anastasio and longtime collaborator Bryce Goggin, PAPER WHEELS was recorded last year at The Barn, the Phish founding guitarist’s Vermont farmhouse-turned-rehearsal space/recording studio. Anastasio and the members of Trey Anastasio Band (TAB) developed the material on stage while touring and at soundcheck on the tour leading up to the sessions, allowing them to track the album in just under a week. Taking a cue from the energetic immediacy of classic Stax Studio recording sessions, TAB worked fast and loose, playing together live in The Barn and wrapping up tracks after one or two takes. Written and co-written by Anastasio alongside frequent lyric partners Tom Marshall and Steve “The Dude of Life” Pollak, songs like the funk-driven “Bounce” and the elegiac “Invisible Knife” (written solely by Anastasio) are among the legendarily diverse artist’s most infectious and inventive, alive with creative vigor, robust musicianship, and true soul power (see the complete tracklisting below).

PAPER WHEELS features the classic TAB line up of drummer Russ Lawton, bassist Tony Markellis, and keyboardist Ray Paczkowski, augmented by a full horn section (including trombonist/vocalist Natalie Cressman, multi-instrumentalist James Casey, and longtime TAB trumpeter/vocalist Jennifer Hartswick). The album was mixed by 8x GRAMMY® Award-winning sound engineer Elliot Scheiner (Van Morrison, Steely Dan, Derek & The Dominos).

Anastasio’s 10th solo album and follow-up to 2012’s acclaimed TRAVELER, PAPER WHEELS has been heralded in recent months by a series of new song premieres launched via his website featuring cover art shrouded in code, showcasing such tracks as “Bounce,” “Speak To Me,” and “Never.” “Bounce” and “Never” were both originally featured on a limited edition 7″ single, released exclusively for Record Store Day 2015.

Watch Fly Golden Eagle’s Video for “Tangible Intangible”

In their new video for the song “Tangible Intangible”, Fly Golden Eagle has pulled out all the stops: back-up dancers, bathtubs of Pepto Bismol, spitting teeth, cake smashing, synchronized hair cutting and other off the wall imagery showcase what their psychedelic fever dreams are made of. Shot entirely on the iPhone of lead singer Ben Trimble, you can watch it HERE courtesy of BrooklynVegan.

“Why wait for people to do what you can do yourself?” explained Trimble when discussing his directorial vision for the video. “The divide between lyrics, music, and visual imagery is now dissolved and poetry triumphs like Orion’s belt’s knife.”

“Tangible Intangible” is featured on Quartz, a 26-song epic collection of songs that join together to form a narrative arc describing a story that is sometimes vulgar, sometimes profane, and sometimes beautiful. A more condensed 12-song version was also released titled Quartz Bijou.

The album lines up with the groundbreaking 1973 film The Holy Mountain, an avant-garde masterpiece directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, produced by The Beatles’ manager Allen Klein, and funded by John Lennon and George Harrison.

This summer Fly Golden Eagle will be making festival appearances at Forecastle, XPoNential Fest, Gathering of the Vibes, the Basilica Block Party and more. All upcoming tour dates can be found below, and tickets are available at their website.

Lucero Announces New Album “All A Man Should Do” and North American Tour

“I was 15 years old in 1989. This record sounds like the record I wanted to make when I was 15. It just took 25 years of mistakes to get it done.” – Ben Nichols

Print

Pre-Order on iTunes | Amazon | Official Website

Following the release of 2012’s Women and Work, Lucero’s new album All A Man Should Do contains some of the most resonant lyrics Ben Nichols has ever written. They read like chapters from his life: the duality of relationships, getting older, finding where you want to be in this world and more.

Working with producer Ted Hutt (Old Crow Medicine Show, Flogging Molly) for a third time at Memphis’s Ardent Studios, the band felt comfortable enough to take some chances with a palette of new tones that sound understated yet powerful, bringing life to the stories behind the lyrics without overshadowing them. Listen to the soulful track “Went Looking For Warren Zevon’s Los Angeles” below.

And for the first time they put a cover song on a record, with a full band version of Big Star’s “I Fell in Love with a Girl”. The track features Jody Stephens from Big Star singing back-up vocals, making it that much more special.

This is a Memphis record in the greatest sense and a perfect finish to the three-part love letter to a city that brought them up and made Lucero what they are today.
