Okkervil River Release Rare Book Room Live Session, On Tour Now
Okkervil River kick off their In The Rainbow Rain tour this weekend in Washington, DC, and to preview the thrilling energy you’ll encounter at those shows the band have released a pair of live clips recorded live at the Rare Book Room. The band went into the studio earlier this spring, looking to capture the ITRR songs in a raw, loose setting. Will Sheff says:
“We taped these live performances of the “In the Rainbow Rain” songs a couple months ago at the Rare Book Room, a great studio right down the street from where I used to live when I lived in Brooklyn. I wanted a chance to get a record of this band playing these songs all together in a room, with some of our collaborators and friends. We shot this the day after we returned from SXSW, at which half the band had gotten sick. Everyone was a bit tired and worn thin, but that gave us something, in the moment, to push against.”
